Unit 4: Circles, Polygons and Angles
IN THIS UNIT, students are involved in hands-on activities to investigate how angles and lines combine in polygons and circles. They apply their discoveries about angles in a circle to describe rotational symmetry and to interpret and create circle graphs. Students then use what they have learned about circumference to investigate the relationship between diameter and circumference of a circle.
Skill Trace:
Skill Trace:
- Use a protractor to determine the measure of any angle; measure internal angles in triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles.
- Classify polygons by their angles and sides.
- Identify two-dimensional figures with line and rotational symmetry.
- Model turns of a circle.
- Interpret and create circle graphs.
- Explore circumference.
- Identify congruent figures.
